COMMISSION PROCESS

There are two main ways of starting your project but I’m always open to exploring new ways of working.

1. PAINTING FROM YOUR OWN REFERENCE PHOTO.

We can discuss using a photo of your own as reference. It will need to be a crisp, high resolution image of good quality, nothing under or over exposed or using flash photography.

2. PAINTING FROM MY PHOTOS + REFERENCE SKETCHES

Another option is to either meet the sitter at the studio for a photo shoot or travel to your location to take photos there. I may also draw some reference sketches whilst discovering a little more of their character as we explore ideas together.

PAYMENT & PRICING

All commissioned artworks are unique and vary in complexity therefore prices may vary. Below are estimated costs using a spectrum of canvas sizes to illustrate a starting point. We’re not restricted to these sizes and bespoke size canvases are available to suit your requirements.

10x14 inches - from £700

14x18 inches - from £1250

18x24 inches - from £2100

24x30 inches - from £3500

30x40 inches - from £5800

Prices indicated do not include shipping or framing if required.

A 50% deposit secures your commission prior to work commencing and the balance is payable on completion and acceptance of your artwork prior to varnishing.

Framing, shipping and any additional agreed fees will also be payable at this time.
 

TIMESCALE

Once work has begun on your commissioned painting, depending on size and complexity it historically takes between 1-6 months for an unvarnished painting. If you would like the work varnished before delivery this will extend the time by 6 months as oil paint must cure prior to varnishing. However you do have the option to take the painting unvarnished and either outsource the varnishing to a reputable restorers after 6 months or return it to me at the studio for varnishing.

I can also advise and arrange framing of your artwork if desired by our trusted framers at an extra cost.

DELIVERING THE PAINTING

Depending on the size of your artwork and distance from the studio I may be able to deliver your commission personally or you can collect it. If shipping is required it must be tracked and insured at your cost..
